X-RAY
Have you ever seen (a part of) your body on an x-ray? The rays used during x-rays go through your body, but can’t go through bone. That’s why only your bones show up on an x-ray. The rays were accidentally discovered by Wilhelm Röntgen: a German-Dutch physicist who won the first Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery. The invention of machines that could produce x-rays sparked the imagination of many people in the early 20th century. People believed the machines would be able to detect burglars by 2020. But that didn’t happen, did it?
